About the Artist

Victoria Percy, creator of Venus in Chains, uses her childhood in Minnesota and her various journeys around the world to inspire the jewelry she creates; striving to design modern pieces that establish a balanced juxtaposition between the traditionally masculine strength of chain maille with the delicate femininity of crystals.

As a designer, Victoria constantly finds herself drawn to chain maille because of its intricacy, complexity, and strength. Additionally, she encourages women to think of chain maille in a new light and experiment with the idea of combining chain maille with their day-to-day looks. Moreover, she designs with the philosophy that jewelry should allow you to project an image of how you see yourself or how you want others to see you, but in of itself, it does not tell the whole story; only when combined with the wearer’s personality and style does it really make a statement. Just as perfume reacts with the body chemistry of its wearer to create an entirely unique scent for each individual, so too does jewelry “react” with its wearer’s individual and personality to create something entirely unique.

Victoria graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a B.S. in Behavioral Science in 2001 and Chapman University with a M.A. in Psychology in 2005. She currently resides in Philadelphia where she continues to study jewelry design and metalsmithing under the tutelage of accomplished craftsmen, and lives with her husband Chris and their two adorable cats, Cassie and Sam.
